Ink drawings of Jazz and Bebop players.

Ink drawings depicting the mood of bebop and Jazz. These drawings were completed whilst sat in my kitchen, listening to Jazz. I was unable to get my studio and was in the house on lockdown. Self isolation was beginning to feel like solitary confinement. To make matters worse I had no WiFi and was unable to make use of technology. Drawing like writing allowed expression.

The drawings we’re completed from memory and each character was memorised from Jazz players seen in films, and my own interpretation. I have listened to Jazz and Blues since I was a child, along with funk, soul, reggae. Music that injected into me mood and rhythum. The Nicholas Brothers were icons and watching them dance in the classic Metro Goldwyn classic of the 1943 Jumpin Jive had a major impact on my love of Jazz.
