Working on wood is signature to my practice as is drawing. This piece in part is a self portrait yet it also aims to tell a story of solitude. The expression can be perceived as a look of worry and apprehension, yet on closure exploration it is a painting that shows a pain hidden under the beauty of attire. The expression is one of longing and an intent observation of what lays ahead. Isolation is not to be feared, isolation in part is a source of great strength. Bhuddist monks find solice in isolation. This painting was created during a period of turbulence and transition in my life (Jan – March 2020) This was painted just before the Covid epidemic was a world wide reality.
